"93 Days" Coming In September

The much-anticipated movie,  "93 Days", will hit Nigerian cinemas on the 16th of September, 2016. It is based on the true story of the Ebola outbreak in Nigeria and the battle to eradicate the disease by the WHO and dedicated doctors, led by  Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh.

Dr Adadevoh, who got exposed to the disease and sadly died on August 19th, 2014, was the great-granddaughter of legendary nationalist, Herbert Macaulay. Another casualty was Justina Ejelonu, once of the nurses at the hospital, who died on the 14th.

It can be recalled that the Ebola outbreak in Nigeria began after Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian-American lawyer affected with the deadly disease, arrived in the country on July 20, 2014, collapsing at the airport on arrival and died on the 24th at the First Consultant Medical Centre, Obalende, Lagos.

"93 Days" stars Bimbo Akintola as Ameyo Adedevoh and veteran actor Keppy Ekpeyong Bassey as Patrick Sawyer.

Other stars include Bimbo Manuel, Tina Mba and Hollywood actors Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon 1-4, The Color Purple, Bopha!) and Tim Reid (Frank's Place, Sister Sister, Snoops , The Reading Room).  The movie is directed by Steve Gukas and produced by Bolanle Austen-Peters, Dotun Olakunri and Pemon Rami.

REEL SUM UP:

A Liberian man  collapses upon arrival at the Muritala Mohammed International airport, Lagos and taken to First Consultant Hospital, where he is admitted with fever like symptoms.
Against his denials of contact with any Ebola victim in Liberia, the medical team -led by Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh-quickly deduce there is more to his case than malaria. Their vigilance leads to an early detection that Mr Sawyer indeed had the Ebola Virus disease. Now it’s a race against time to contain a deadly disease from breaking out and infecting an entire city population and beginning what could be the biggest deadly disease outbreak the world has ever known.
The scare is palpable across the country. The doomsday scenario imagined is here.
Over a 93-day period from when Sawyerr comes in, men and women from Nigeria, WHO and MSF do battle with this deadly disease.

"93 Days" is a compelling human story of dedication, sacrifice, resilience and survival. A must watch.
