MTV Video Music Awards 2019 Winners List

Aside from the excitement of Missy Elliot's return and publicly performing for the first time since her 14 year-long hiatus, via a music medley of her past tracks:


Missy also received the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, paying tribute to the late music icon (so there!) and giving a shout out to his sister, Janet, Madonna and the late R&B princess, Aaliyah.


Other artistes who gave live performances included Ava Max, Shawn Mendes, Lizzo, Lil Nas X, Miley Cyrus and Queen Latifah who led a medley with her famous track  'U.N.I.TY'; immediately followed by Naughty By Nature, Redman, Fetty Wap and Wyclef Jean.

 MTV VMA 2019 took place yesterday at the Prudential Center, New Jersey- its 36th edition- and hosted by actor and comedian, Sebastian Maniscalco (Green Book). The winners are:




Video of the Year: Taylor Swift for You Need To Calm Down (either Kanye West was not present to ruin her moment again, or he simply decided to shut his mouth for once).

Artist of the Year:  Ariana Grande

Song of the Year: Lil Nas X (ft. Billy Ray Cyrus) for Old Town Road (Remix)

Best Group: BTS

Best New Artist: Billie Eilish

Best Collaboration: Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello for 'Senorita'

Push Artist of the Year: Billie Eilish

Best Pop: Jonas Brothers for 'Sucker'

Best Hip Hop: Cardi B for 'Money' (over DJ Khaled??!)

Best R&B: Normani (ft. 6Black) for 'Waves' 

Best K-Pop: BTS (ft. Halsey) for 'Boy With Luv' 

Best Latin: Rosalina and Balvin (featuring El Guincho) for 'Con Altura' 

Best Dance: The Chainsmokers and Bebe Rexha for 'Call You Mine'
