Happy Birthday To Eastwood and Morgan
Two hollywood veterans clocked a year older this week, coincidentally close pals and collaborators; Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman.
Actor, Director, Producer and composer Eastwood, who clocked 91 yesterday, began his career in the 1950s, his big break coming in 1963's A Fistful of Dollars, where he played the enigmatic 'Man With No Name', followed by more westerns including, For A Few Dollars More, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, High 'Em High, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Paint Your Wagon, which was a musical, and Two Mules For Sarah.
In the 1970s, Eastwood made his directorial debut in the film, Play Misty For Me and played the 'no rules' Inspector Harry Callahan in the Dirty Harry franchise. Turning down the role of James Bond after Sean Connery's departure, Eastwood went on to star in several films over the years, also serving as director and producer and winning several awards for his works. His upcoming film is a neo western, Cry Macho. He has also been involved in politics, music and promoting Health & Fitnes
Actor, Director and no doubt the best narrator of all time, Freeman, clocks 84 today. Starting his career on stage, his first big break came in 1971 when he starred in the children's educational T.V show The Electric Company. In 1989, he played a Union soldier alongside Denzel Washington and Matthew Broderick in Glory, that same year, he reprised his stage role of Hoke Colburn, the loyal chauffeur in the film adaptation of Driving Miss Daisy. His third success was as the very strict but well meaning principal, Joe Clark, in Lean On Me. His first collaboration with Eastwood was in the 1992 western, Unforgiven and his directorial debut was in 1993, when he directed Bopha!, which starred Danny Glover and Malcolm McDowell. Morgan's other memorable works include Deep Impact, Amistad, Nurse Betty, The Shawshank Redemption, Invictus (where he played Nelson Mandela), The Bucket List, Seven, Million Dollar Baby (his second film with Clint Eastwood and earned him an Oscar) and Lucius Fox in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. Freeman served as Executive Producer of Madam Secretary, where he made 3 episode appearances as Chief Justice Frawley.
Known for his distinctive deep voice, Freeman has received great acclaim for his strong flow of narration, notably in The Shawshank Redemption, Million Dollar Baby and several documentaries, including The Story of God, which is in its third season.
