Mahershala Ali is the new BLADE

Actor and rapper  Mahershala Ali has been cast as Blade in a new film adaptation about the Marvel Comics vampire hunter. This was announced by Marvel during the recent San Diego Comic-Con 2019. Blade was previously played by veteran actor and martial artist, Wesley Snipes in Blade, Blade II and Blade: Trinity.

Mahaershala Ali is the first Muslim actor to win an Oscar, in 2017 won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in the coming-of-age drama Moonlight and then went on to win another this year for the biopic Green Book; also winning a BAFTA, SAG Award and a Golden Globe. Ali is an accomplished actor who has come a long way but considering who previously played Blade, he has large shoes to fill.

This is, however, a very welcome development and the very best of luck to him!
