Orisabunmi Passes On

Sad news just at the start of the new year, veteran actress Chief Mrs Folake Aremu has passed away. The sad event happened yesterday, 5th of January 2021 after a brief illness at her Ibadan home. She was mostly known for playing the strong-willed priestess, Orisabunmi in several Yoruba productions. 

Her former husband and fellow dramatist, Jimoh Aliu (Aworo),  passed away September last year. 

Bolaji Amusan, (Mr Latin), current president of TAMPAN (Theatre Arts & Movie Practitioners of Nigeria) made the announcement on social media, expressing his sorrow at her passing, describing her as 'a priceless jewel' and a rare gem in the Nigerian film industry and will be greatly missed. 

Fellow Nollywood film veteran Jide Kosoko  regarded the actress' death a huge blow to the Industry and prayed for the repose of her soul. 

According to reports, burial arrangements will be announced later.
