'The Godfather' Actor James Caan Gone At 82
American actor, James Caan, has passed away. The news was annouced on Twitter, which stated the veteran actor passed away yesterday on the 6th of July, 2022. He was 82 years old.
Caan was renowned for his role as Don Corleone's (late Marlon Brando) hot headed first son, Sonny in The Godfather, which he co starred along with Al Pacino, Robert Duvall and the late John Cazale, who played his brothers and Talia Shire, who played their sister, Connie. His other films include the film adaptation of Stephen King's Misery, Rollerball, Dick Tracy, Honeymoon in Vegas, Eraser, Alien Nation, the television film, Brian's Song and the Christmas film, Elf. For his role as Sonny Corleone, Caan was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
The Godfather alum and its director, Francis Ford Coppola, have expressed their sadness over the news. From Al Pacino:
"Jimmy was my fictional brother and life long friend. It's had to believe he won't be in the world any more because he was so alive and daring. A great actor, a brilliant director and my dear friend. I'm gonna miss him."
Joe Mantegna, who appeared in The Godfather III, stated on Twitter:
