Nollywood Loses 2 Veteran Actresses
Very sad news... two Nollywood veteran actresses passed away yesterday, July 17th.
Film and T.V actress and politician, Sola Onayiga passed away at the Lagos Univerisity Teaching Hospital after being on admission at its ICU for two weeks, after a yet unspecified illness. The late veteran rose to prominence via her role as Chief Fuji's third wife Ireti (contemptously nicknamed 'Kitchen Practical' by the rest of the family, due to her odd dishes and eating preferences) in the classic soap, "Checkmate'', its sitcom spinoff, "Fuji House of Commotion" and its 2006 film, "Apostle Kasali". She later went into politics, emerging as a candiate for the Lagos State House of Assembly Ikorudu Constituency 1, under the umbrella of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in 2015.
Ada Ameh passed away at the National Petroleum Corporation hospital in Warri, Delta State, after collapsing at an oil company's toyshop, where she was a guest. Ameh's films included Zeb Ejiro's Domitilla (1996), Chico Ejiro's Daybreak 2: Judgement Day (1997), reprising her role as Anita in Domitilla Part 2, Kunle Afolayan's Phone Swap (2012), "My Village People" (2021) and was a cast member of the popular Nigerian sitcom, "The Johnsons".
May they both rest in peace.
