Happy 81st Birthday, Bongos Ikwue
A very happy 81st birthday to Nigerian veteran highlife and Afro jazz musician and songwriter, Bongos Ikwue; born on the 6th of June 1942.
Bongos Ikwue was one of the leading musicians in the 1970s and 80s, releasing severals albums. He was also involved in acting and filmmaking in the 1990s.
His hits include 'Still Searching', 'What's Gonna Be Gonna Be', 'Ifajila' 'Nigeria is 33' and the soundtrack of the Nigerian 80s soap, 'Cockrow at Dawn'. Several of his tracks were used in Jeta Amatas 2010 film, Inale, a musical epic set in Mr Ikwue's homeland, Otukpo, in Benue State; earning the film an AMA award for Achievement in Soundtrack.
