Stage Set For "I Wish, I Wish- Battle Of The Winds"

Plot: A young girl named Nkechi finds herself navigating the complexities of modern city life while reminiscing about her traditional village roots. As she embarks on her journey of self-discovery, the play delves into her quest for identity and relevance in a rapidly changing world. The play's themes include urbanisation, preservation of cultural heritage, and the various societal vices that impact her life.
This dance-drama merges realism with elements of magical realism and draws heavily from African mythology. The production is vibrant, featuring a diverse ensemble that includes humans, animals, fairies, and ants. Central to the storytelling is Grandma Wura, a character who guides the audience through the musical and narrative experience, enriching the tale with traditional wisdom and charm.
The play is written & directed by co-founder and CEO of Proud African Roots, Bola Edwards, who also plays the play's narrator, Grandma Wura.
