Alhaji Taiwo 'Ogogo' Hassan (1959-2026)
Reel Illustrated is very saddened to announce the passing of veteran Nigerian actor, writer & director, Alhaji Taiwo 'Ogogo' Hassan after his battle with Stage 4 cancer. He was 66.
His poor health status was discovered last week via an Instagram video by his daughter, who solicited help and advice on treatment for him. A few days ago, his colleagues and friends from the industry gathered for a prayer session at the LTV studio hall in Ikeja; a testament to how he was loved and respected by many.
It's not only a devastating loss for his family, friends, colleagues & fans, but also to the Yoruba film industry, in which he featured in comedy, drama, thriller and epic genres.
During his decades-long career in the Yoruba film industry, Ogogo also served as a producer and director and wrote several movies.
His films among his sizeable filmography include the three-part film Owo Blow, Ekun-Ayo, Aso Idoti , Omo Talika ( the 2nd, 3rd & 4th he wrote & produced), Ọjọ ẹyẹ mi, Eeku Ida, Omo Ghetto, etc.
His final screen appearance was as Aalafin Ademuyinwa in Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre, the mini-series continuation of Aníkúlápó.
Alhaji Taiwo 'Ogogo' Hassan is survived by his 2 wives and several children.
May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest.
