Happy 60th Birthday, Halle Berry

 

Reel Illustrated congratulates award winning actress, Halle Berry on her 60th birthday today.

Born on this day in 1966, Halle Berry is the 1st African American actress to win the Best Actress Oscar for her role in the drama, Monster's Ball (2001), which she co-starred with Billy Bob Thornton. In 1999, she produced and starred in Introducing Dorothy Dandridge; a TV biopic of the 1st African American actress/singer  to be nominated for the Best Actress Oscar, Berry earning a Golden Globe & a Primetime Emmy for her performance. She made her directorial debut in the 2020 movie, Bruised, where she played a boxer and played the Marvel character, Storm in the X Men franchise. 

Her other memorable roles include NSA agent Giacinta 'Jinx' Johnson in Die Another Day (Pierce Bronson's final Bond film), a framed  psychiatrist in Gothika, a traumatized 911 dispatcher in The Call & an ally in John Wick: Chapter 3.
