Nigeria Bans 'Eternals' From Its Cinemas
The current MCU instalment, Eternals which has grossed $161.7 million in its opening weekend at the global box office , has been banned in several countries, which includes Nigeria.
The reason behind this step by the National Film and Video Censors Board and other censorship bodies was the controversial scene where Phastos and Ben (Brian Tyree Henry and Haaz Suleiman) go all kissy; making them the first same-sex couple in a Marvel \Disney film, and Disney refusing to cut out the scene. NFVCB's ban is not surprising as it has zero tolerance on gay content in the country's media.
Chloe Zhao said in an interview that she hoped the film wouldn't be banned anywhere globally to allow fans to enjoy the "full experience". FYI, Phantos wasn't gay in the comics.
