The upcoming Yoruba period drama tells the true story of one of the most controversial figures in the history of the Yorubas, Bashorun Ga'a; known for leading many victories on the battlefield and as an important adviser of Alaafins during the era of the Old Oyo empire. However, Ga'a turned out to be a ruthless and evil man responsible for several murders and tyranny in the land until his eventual downfall.
Written by Tunde Babalola and directed by ace filmmaker, Bolanle Austen-Peters, "House of Ga'a" will premiere on Netflix, July 26th, 2024. The cast includes Femi Branch, Funke Akindele, Mike Afolarin, Toyin Abraham, Dele Odule, Bimbo Manuel, Adeniyi Johnson and Lateef Adedimeji.
The story of Bashorun Ga'a was previously adapted and released straight to video in 2004, directed by late Adebayo Faleti and starred David Ojedokun as Gaa, Tubosun Odunsi, Adewunmi Faleti, Gbemisola Faleti, Moses Omilani, Lere Paimo, Toyosi Arigbabuwo, Peter Fatomilola, Alabi Ogundepo, Mistura Asunmo, Larinde Akinleye and Adebayo Faleti himself.
