The beloved actor was known for his roles in Top Gun, The Ghost & The Darkness,   Tombstone, Batman Forever, The Saint, The Doors and various stage productions. While Top Gun was his 3rd film, it's widely considered his big break and ironically, its several years later sequel was his final performance.
