Halloween 2025: Horror Film & TV Suggestions
It's that time again... ooooooooo!!!
For the horror fans among my readers, here's a TV and film selection for this year's Halloween.
1. Storm of the Century (1999)
The 3-episode mini series is set in a small town in Maine, where the townspeople are terrorised by a stranger, who seems to know all their secrets and insists, "Give me what I want, and I'll go away."
Storm of the Century is written by the master of horror, Stephen King, but is not based on any of his novels.
Another Stephen King entry- again, not an adaptation of any of his novels. The Rose Red mini series is about a parapsychologist and her group of psychics sent to investigate a Seattle mansion, believed to be haunted.
Another Stephen King entry, but this time, it's an 8-episode TV adaptation of his 2006 novel of the same name. 2 years after her talented but troubled husband's death, a widow must confront his dark past and enter a place that could save her from a psychotic stranger.
4. It: Welcome To Derry (2025)
The final Stephen King entry on the list is an adaptation of King's 2009 novel of the same name. The novel itself is a sequel to his 3rd novel, The Shining, published in 1977. Danny, the troubled son of the previous novel's main character, Jack, must save a little girl with similar psychic abilities to his from a blood thirsty cult.
The remake of the 1977 Italian film of the same name, a young girl enrolls in a prestigious ballet school, only to discover it's run by a coven of witches.
7. Smile (2022) & Smile 2 (2024)
In the first film, a psychiatrist is convinced she's being terrorised by a malevolent entity after a patient commits suicide in front of her, while smiling in a very creepy way. In part 2 (not related to part 1), a pop star experiences disturbing events from a smiling entity while on tour.
Twin brothers return to their Mississippi hometown to start afresh, only to face a dark evil there.
Desperate to regain her youth and celebrity status, a fading actress buys a black market drug that creates a younger and more beautiful version of herself. 3 rules: respect the balance, switch bodies after 7 days and follow the dosage. That should be easy...right?
10. Nosferatu (2024)
This final entry is a remake of the (believe it or not) 1922 silent film, which was inspired by Bram Stoker's gothic novel, Dracula. In the story, an estate agent meets with a new client, Count Orlock, over the sale of a property. However, the sinister Count has plans for the agent's wife, Ellen.
Happy viewing!
