From Page to Screen: "Scarpetta"
Patricia Cornwell's long-running crime novel series featuring Chief Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta is finally being adapted for TV as Scarpetta. Nicole Kidman will play the adult Kay, with Rosy McEwen as her younger self.
The cast includes Jamie Lee Curtis as Kay's older sister, Dorothy; Amanda Righetti as young Dorothy; Ariana DeBose as Kay's niece, Lucy; Bobby Cannavale as former detective Pete Marino; and Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley, Kay's eventual husband in the books.
Dr Kay Scarpetta first appeared in Cornwell's 1990 debut novel, Postmortem, with the 29th book, Sharp Force, released last year. From the first book, Scarpetta is the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia who solves murders. In the 12th book, Blowfly, she relocates to Florida as a forensic consultant, but returns to Virginia to serve as Chief Medical Examiner again in the 25th book, Autopsy.
