'The Royal Hibiscus Hotel' Coming This February To Naija Cinemas
Written and directed
by Ishaya Bako, this romantic comedy stars Zainab Balogun as Ope, an aspiring
restaraunter who quits her job in the UK and goes back to Lagos to start over
in her family’s rather run down hotel. However she gets a shock on discovering her parents
plan to sell it (gasp!) to a rich property developer Deji (Kenneth Okolie), who
happened to the same guy man she met by chance. Hence two
things are at stake here... her heart
and her inheritance.
The movie’s ensemble
cast includes Olu Jacobs, Joke Silva, Rachel Oniga and Jide Kosoko. The movie
already sounds sort of predictable, girl meets boy and fall in love albeit with
conflicts between them at first. But hey, Valentine’s Day is round the corner,
what else would the audience want to add
to heighten the mood?
Made by Ebonylife
Films, The Royal Hibiscus Hotel premiered at the 2017 Toronto International film
festival on the 8th of September and will be released in the country
on the 9th of February, 2018. So... mark your calenders!
