VIDEO: Game of Thrones' Season 7 Finale Preview

Main thing to expect...

Lannister siblings Cersei, Jaime and Tyrion come face-to-face once more.

Games of Thrones' Final Season to be shot in October

Games of Thrones fans should prepare to say a sad bye bye to the show, as it will begin shooting its final season in October, which  will consist of 8 episodes.
In a recent interview Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, revealed the production date but as to what fans should expect in the final season, he has no idea yet.
‘I knew what was going to happen for the first three seasons. After that, it’s been a season at a time,” he said.
‘You get the scripts a month before we start shooting, or six weeks, and then you know what’s going to happen that season.
‘But, I don’t know what’s going to happen next season. We go back in October, so maybe in the next few weeks, we’ll get the scripts and I’ll find out. I’m very curious.’
Well... all things must come to an end, right?

Game of Thrones is the brainchild of George R.R Martins, author of the  epic-fantasy series of novels - A Song of Ice & Fire; the first book of the series being ‘Game of Thrones’.  Martins, who is a co-executive producer of the show, can only be described as the American version of J.R.R Tolkien (probably called that already), the show having such a huge following since probably Doctor Who

What  we will  get next, A Lord of the Rings  T.V series?

Funke Akindele Is Going To Be A Mummy!

No longer a rumour, Nollywood  actress Funke Akindele is going to be a mummy, as she  and music producer JJC Skillz are definitely expecting their first child. Akindele’s baby bump was very noticeable at the Glo Lafta Fest 2017 held yesterday in Festac, Lagos. Let’s hope she’ll be able to juggle  impending motherhood and her show ‘Jenifa’s Diary’ with ease but no doubt she will have her husband’s loving support with it.

Best of luck to the couple.

'My Wife & I' Premires In Lagos

The premiere of the new Nollywood comedy; My Wife and I, took place yesterday at the Imax Filmhouse Cinema, in Lekki, Lagos. The event had quite the turn out, with several Nollywood celebrities from Ngozi Nwosu to Omotola Jalade Eikende.

My Wife and I is about a couple who are successful in every other aspect of their lives, except their marriage and parenting; she's the stern Mummy while he's the fun Daddy. Their decision to make things work leads them to Pastor Theophilus, who puts them through a series of unfortunate events after intentionally or unintentionally making them walk in each other's shoes; literally

Sounds just a bit like the 80's movies Like Father, Like Son, Vice Versa  and  2003’s Freaky Friday  but a welcome change to the usual Nollywood norm. Plus, it would be hilarious to see Nouah's feminine side for once!

It stars handsome veteran actor Ramsey Nouah and actress and producer Omoni Oboli, who were previously co-stars in Kunle Afolayan's 2009 movie, The Figurine.

Speaking of head turners, Nouah looked absolutely dashing as always in his sharp suit but the lovely Oboli was the belle of the event as she stole the show in her amazing Ceoluminee evening gown.

My Wife and I will be released in cinemas on the 25th this month.

'The Crown' Season 2 : What To Expect

Netflix drama The Crown stars Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II, Doctor Who's Matt Smith as her husband His Royal Highness Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, with John Lithgow as Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill.

Last season covered the period from when Her Majesty and His Royal Highness

got married, the death of her father George VI  to the much ado over Princess
Margaret's (Vanessa Kirby) romantic relationship with Group Captain Peter Townsend(Ben Miles). Last season also showed the surprising tension and conflict between the newlyweds, Churchill being pressured to step down as Prime Minister and the young Queen’s own issues with her sister Margaret.

What should viewers expect in Season 2 then?

In Season 2, the British army will be fighting an illegal war in Egypt, and  a scandal  will take down Queen Elizabeth II's third prime minister, Harold Macmillan. Plus, expect to see Dexter's Michael C. Hall and South African actress Jodi Balfour, who are going to play American President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jackie. And there’s Matthew Goode (Downton Abbey), who will play Princess Margaret's husband Antony Armstrong-Jones, Lord Snowdon.

As ‘The Crown’ aims to cover six decades of the royal family’s story line- which of course will require older cast members later on- Season 2 will be Claire Foy’s last season of playing the Queen.

Milla Jovovich in 'Hell Boy' Reboot

Milla Jovovich has been cast in next year’s Hell Boy reboot, Hell Boy: Rise of the Blood Queen.  Known for her iconic roles in sci-fi and action movies like The Fifth Element, Ultra Violet and the Resident Evil franchise, Milla is going to play the villainess- Nimue, the Queen of Blood. How pleasant.

And no, Ron Perlman is not going to reprise his role- instead Stranger Things'
David Harbour is stepping into those shoes, while English actor Ian McShane has been cast as Hellboy’s adopted father, Professor Bruttenhom. Who is going to take over from Selma Blair as Liz Sherman then?
And rumour has it that’s going to be a lot violent and grittier than the original movie and its sequel.

We all remember Hellboy; the 2004 movie based on the Dark Comics characters; starring Ron Perlman, Selma Blair and the late John Hurt. It was followed by a 2008 sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army and both movies were  directed by Guillermo del Toro.

Hellboy reboot now? What is up with the remakes and reboots, is this a plot to start a huge argument among fans about which version was better or which actor or actress played a particular role better? Seriously.

What To Expect in 'Wonder' Movie

R.J Palacio’s 2012 novel, Wonder; tells the touching story of Auggie Pullman- a boy born with facial defects caused by mandibulofacial dystosis-  who begins his first year in middle school. While he is accepted by teachers and some students who befriend him, he also faces prejudice and bullying from others... because of his condition. The novel has been adapted into a movie starring Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson as Auggie's parents, Izabela Vidovic as his sister Via and Jacob Tremblay as Auggie. The movie is set to be released on the 17th of November, 2017.

Whoever has read Wonder will expect a tearjerker of a movie because Wonder depicted a main social issue still prevalent in the world today, prejudice. In this case, it has nothing to do with race, nationality, religion or even sexual orientation. It had to do with difference in appearance. Auggie’s parents decide to let him attend a school with other children. Auggie, while aware how people stare at his disfigured face, has to deal with how he is wrongly judged by his appearance- called a ‘freak’, suspected at first to be slow and sadly... even bullied.  Auggie has to prove that he’s none of those things and hold his chin up, amidst the unkindness, wariness and hostility. Luckily, he finds and makes friends who don’t care about his appearance but the person within. Nonetheless, Auggie’s strength of character and determination to succeed makes for a very compelling read.
The novel not only depicted prejudice but also love, negative parental influence, jealousy, the power of friendship and most of all; never judging a book by its cover- or in this case- never judging a person by his or her appearance and how beauty can be found within.

R.J Palacio was inspired to write Wonder after an encounter with a little girl with a facial defect, while getting ice cream with her children.

VIDEO: Stephen Kings' Books Vs Their Adaptations

As we all know, several of  horror novelist Stephen King's books have been adapted for the screen; most recently The Dark Tower and It. Stephen King pays so much attention to detail that it's admittedly tedious  trying to finish some of his works and probably even more adapting them. But don't expect everything in a movie adaptation to be exactly like the book, you would definitely find changes- either major or minor. From The Running Man to  The Shining, view the major differences between Stephen Kings' books and their adaptations.

Original 'Roseanne' Cast Return For Reboot... BUT what about Johnny?

The memorable ABC  sitcom Roseanne (1988-1997)  is the latest addition of American shows being revived.; Twin Peaks (1990-1991), starring Kyle MacLachlan and cancelled after two seasons returned on the 21st of May this year, while Will & Grace (1998 - 2006) is set to return for a 12 episode limited series.

Roseanne, a sitcom about a working class family starred comedienne Roseanne Barr (who also served as Executive Producer) as Roseanne Connor  and  John Goodman (remember him as Fred in The Flintstones???) as her husband Dan. Fans were devastated when Dan Connor, a well loved character, was killed off after being absent for several episodes. But good news... according to a statement by ABC Entertainment's president, Channing Dungey;  'Dan' (Goodman) is among the old faces we will see again in the Roseanne reboot. "Dan is definitely still alive", he told reporters.

Sara Gilbert and Laurie Metcalf, are also set to reprise their roles as Roseanne's younger daughter Darlene and sister Jackie respectively, ditto Michael Fishman who played her son, D.J and Alicia Goranson as their older daughter, Becky.

But... a very big But...

What about Johnny Galecki, who played Darlene's boyfriend and eventual husband, Kevin? Unlike, Gilbert and Metcalf who play recurring characters in CBS' The Big Bang Theory, he's one of the main cast members and committed to two more seasons in the show. Will we see him with Darlene in Roseanne?

Apparently so, because Galecki is currently still  in talks concerning that so nothing is certain yet. Whatever but when S11 of The Big Bang Bang Theory arrives, fans don't want to be forced to deal with Leonard (Galecki)  being absent for several episodes!

Roseanne begins shooting on October.

VIDEO: Game of Thrones' "Spoils of War" Review

So...  what happened in Spoils of War?

Well for a start. Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and his army had an epic face-off with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) her band of Dothrakis and the Mother of Dragons during Game of Thrones’ previous episode, the result being almost burnt to a crisp; described as the most nail biting fight sequence ever. But, does this mean the end of Jaime?

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt Seperate After 8 Year Marriage

Yet another celebrity marriage hits the dust! And who would believe Scary Movie actress Anna Faris and her hubby Guardians of the Galaxy actor Vol. 2 actor  Chris Pratt would end things after 8 years of marriage- this being her second too. But alas, that is what’s been buzzing all over the Internet; they are separating because-apparently- things have not been working out for a long time. This is what Faris has to say about it via Twitter yesterday;

We are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.”

Pratt and Faris married in July 2009 after meeting on the set of the comedy Take Me Home Tonight in 2007. They have a son, Jack, who will turn 5 later this month.

Angelina Jolie/Brad Pitt and Ben Stiller/Christine Taylor split is yet to be gotten over, now this
No more celebrity couples’ splits just yet please.

Leave Funke Akindele Alone

This post is a response to what was said about actress & producer, Funke Akindele- Bello recently. Akindele was asked on social media about her current T.V sitcom, Jenifa’s Diary.

please when is it ending, the film don tire pezin Jae. Give use something new

Then stop watching, was the actress’ reply.

Next thing we hear, Funke Akindele is being blasted here and there about her ‘rudeness’ and how disappointed fans are with her. Look at these...
Anty Funke that is a harsh reply
sometimes a kind reply turns away wrath
but un-cultured, for a brand that we all have. Consumers are always right

People, seriously... are you kidding?
Jenifa’s Diary was adapted from her 2008 movie, Jenifa- which is a huge achievement. How many of our movies in this country have been adapted for T.V and syndicated across the country? Think of the cost of producing every episode we enjoy from the comfort of our homes every week; all born from Akindele, her colleagues and team’s running around and diligent work. Aside from Tinsel and a few others, Jenifa’s Diary is a gem in Nigerian television and no doubt Akindele’s pride and joy. How many of our own Nigerian shows are even worth watching, instead of the telenovelas and American, British sitcoms and drama series people switch over to? And how many of them have had such a huge following and lasted for long?
So for a fan to now say she’s tired of Jenifa’s Diary, she was speaking for herself, not for the millions of fans across the country. And she probably said so in the first place because she is bored with the sitcom for some reason.  Akindele was not being rude; she simply gave a blunt reply to a blunt question/statement. The customer is always right but not in this case; Akindele was simply blunt, honest and brisk in her reply yet everyone’s blasting her so unfairly and not seeing her own point of view.
So verdict, if you don’t like nor appreciate Jenifa’s Diary, then stop watching and go watch something else. Leave Funke Akindele alone.

'Justice League' Coming in November

Spiderman: Homecoming came out last month, we are to expect Thor: Ragnarok in November. And yet another superhero movie is coming - also in November- Justice League;  which continues from where Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice left off last year. Looks like Marvel and D.C Comics are neck in neck when it comes to bringing in movies; with D.C's  Wonder Woman earning more money than the Spiderman reboot and come November, we will be wondering which movie will make more than the other- money AND reviews. Start placing your bets!

Reel Sum Up...

Months after  Superman (Henry Cavill) sacrificed himself for humanity;  Bruce Wayne/Batman (Ben Affleck) and Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) gather together a team of other superheroes to face Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons.

Screenplay Chris Terrio

Directed By: Zack Snyder

Also starring, Game of Thrones alumni  Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash,  Ray Fisher  as Victor Stone/ Cyborg, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor,  Irish actor  Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth.

Bruce Willis in 'Death Wish' Remake

Reel Sum Up...

A man's life is changed forever after his wife and daughter become victims of a terrible act. He then goes on a mission of deadly revenge.

Die Hard actor Bruce Willis is playing the lead in the upcoming thriller, Death Wish; a remake of the 1974 film that starred the late Charles Bronson and  adapted from Brian Garfield's 1972 novel of the same name. The original did very well in the box office at its year of release but was found disturbing due to the graphic violence and its seeming support of vigilantism. Right wingers can say what they like but what would they do if they were in the lead character's shoes... forgive and forget?

The movie is set to be released on the 22nd of November, 2017.

Cast: Michael Douglas, Glenn Close and Anne Archer

Directed by: Adrian Lyne

Year of Release: 1987

Plot:  A married man has a weekend fling with another woman. This turns out very unwise as his lover refuses to accept their ‘relationship’ is over.

'First They Killed My Father' Official Trailer

Reel Sum Up...

Produced and directed by veteran actress Angelina Jolie; this movie tells the true story of  human rights activist and lecturer, Loung Ung. Based on her published memoir of the same name, the movie gives a detailed and harrowing account of Ung’s escape from the Cambodian genocide orchestrated by the infamous Khmer Rouge regime. Over the next four years, some two million Cambodians – out of a population of seven million – were killed by Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge regime. While she was able to reach America with her brother and sister-in-law, Ung’s parents, two sisters and 20 other relatives were killed.
Close friends of Jolie, Ung penned the screenplay; with Angelina’s adopted son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt (originally from Cambodia) also involved in the project.

The movie was previously released in Cambodia on the 18th of February and now it is set to be released on Netflix on the 15th of September, 2017.

A charismatic and controversial character, Fela Kuti was the pioneer of the Nigerian music genre Afrobeat and 20 years after his death at age 59 on the 2nd of August, 1997; he remains revered by his fans for his music, outspokenness against the government, philosophy and fierce and unwavering fight for human rights.

Just to show we simply shouldn't take actors and actresses for granted! Just because they put themselves out there in a particular film, doesn't mean they wanted the role in the first place.

This video will astound you!

Imagine if Robert De Niro, Richard Gere, Al Pacino, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and even Burt Reynolds  had NOT turned down the lead in  Die Hard? Would any of them had done better than Bruce Willis who played John McClane in four sequels after the original?

Would Eddie Murphy have been a better Eddie Valient in 1988's Who Framed Roger Rabbit? than the late Bob Hoskins?

Meg Ryan as Catherine Tramell  in Basic Instinct but got it passed on to Sharon Stone or Pretty Woman which went to Julia Roberts?

Will Smith as the main character in Django Unchained but paved the way for Jamie Foxx?

It's surprising how many iconic roles were passed on to the ones who we'll always visualise as the characters, because the first choices refused them!

But there are some iconic roles that were meant and made for one particular actor; a.k.a the very first and only choice. Watch Video below  and see!

Bad news... upcoming episodes and scripts from a handful of HBO’s T.V shows are showing up online via hackers who managed to get past the company's systems. An upcoming episode of Ballers and Room 104 have apparently been put online already and written material from next week’s S7 E4 episode of Game of Thrones- “Spoils of War”.

“HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information. We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cyber security firms. Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold,” the network confirmed in a statement.

According to E.W, the culprits  claimed to have obtained 1.5 terabytes of data from the company. So far, an upcoming episode of Ballers and Room 104 have apparently been put online. There is also written material that’s allegedly from next week’s fourth episode of Game of Thrones. More is promised to be “coming soon.”
For now, HBO isn’t commenting on what content might have been stolen or confirming specific titles.

Huh... are hackers that cheeky, deprived and heartless that they simply can’t wait for the actual air date? Freedom of information and all that... but this is really unacceptable!
