'The Crown': Season 3... New Cast!

As  the upcoming Season 3 of the award winning series is set several years after the events of Season 2, fans should expect several new faces.  Season 3 will now follow Prince Charles as a young man, played by Josh O' Connor.  In a statement, he said: 

"I am thrilled to be joining the firm for the next installment of The Crown. Season three and four will follow some of the most turbulent events in the Prince of Wales's life and our national story and I'm excited to be bringing to life the man in the midst of it all. I'm very aware it's a formidably talented family to be joining, but reliably informed I have the ears for the part and will fit right in."

Playing Her Majesty in Season 3 and 4  is British actress Olivia Coleman (The Night Manager) , her second time of doing so as she previously played the Queen in the comedy drama Hyde Park on Hudson back in 2012. 

Princess Margaret will now be played by Harry Potter alumni Helena Bonham-Carter, good choice since she previously  played the Queen Mother as a young woman in The King's Speech in 2010, co-starring with Colin Firth who played Her Majesty's late father George VI. According to her: 

“It’s exciting. We start in a few weeks, and I think we’re all — we’re completely terrified.I think also because the first two seasons were such a success, we have the onus of inheriting the responsibility of doing justice to all these genuinely famous people, and then on top of it, inheriting them from this previous generation of actors who’ve done such good jobs.”

Meanwhile,  Matt Smith who played His Royal Highness Prince Phillip since Season 1 now has to step aside for Rome, Game of Thrones and  Outlander alumni,Tobias Menzies.

Princess Margaret's eventual ex husband Anthony Armstrong-Jones, the Earl of Snowdon will be played by Ben Daniels (Rogue One, The Hollow Crown)

Her Majesty's only daughter, Princess Anne will be played by Erin Doherty (Call The Midwife, Les Miserables) 

And  Jason Watkins will play Prime Minister Harold Wilson. 

Season 3 is presently being filmed but alas we won't be seeing it anytime soon as it is set to air in 2019.  Long time to wait!
