Jennifer Hudson Plays The Queen of Soul in 'Respect'
Oscar, Golden Globe and SAG award winner and former America Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson may have taken her biggest role since Dreamgirls. Respect is an upcoming biopic based on the life of the late (and painfully missed) Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, the title derived from her hit song of the same name. Knowing how great her voice is, it's no doubt Hudson will do the role justice, more so as Aretha Franklin herself approved Hudson being cast to play her if her biopic ever came up, before her death.
'Respect' is currently in post production but will be released in limited cinemas on Christmas day, before getting a wider release in January 2021.
Comedian Marlon Wayans plays Aretha's manager and first husband, Ted White, Mary J. Blige as singer and pianist Dina Washington and Tate Donovan as record producer and civil rights activist, John Hammond.
Who else predicts an Oscar for Hudson???
