Happy 100th Birthday, Dick Van Dyke
The happiest of birthdays to veteran actor, comedian, dancer and Disney Legend, Dick Van Dyke... who clocks a 100 years old today!
A career in stage, films and television spanning several decades, Van Dyke has left his mark with his vesartile comedic, acting and dance skills; solidifying his status as a "triple threat" in the entertainment industry- winning a Tony, Emmy & Grammy.
His Broadway hits include The Music Man & Bye, Bye Birdie (which earned him his Tony), films Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, reprsing his role of Albert in Bye, Bye Birdie's film adaptation, and appearing in Night at the Museum, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb & a cameo in Mary Poppins Returns.
His notable television work is The Dick Van Dyke Show, (1961-1966), The New Dick Van Dyke Show (1971-1974), the Matlock spinoff Diagnosis Murder & its subsequent television movies, which co-starred his son, Barry Van Dyke. He had guest roles in Matlock (playing against type), The Golden Girls, Becker, Sabrina, The Teenage Witch and the long running soap, Days of Our Lives, which earned him an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series in 2024.
His current memoir, 100 Rules for Living to 100: An Optimist’s Guide to a Happy Life, was released on the 18th of November.
