RIP Walker! : Chuck Norris (1940-2026)
Aside from his versatile acting, Norris was a skilled martial artist, with black belts in various disciplines; Karate, Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and winning awards in several martial arts championships. After woroking as a martial arts instructor for celebrities, he made his film debut in The Wrecking Crew (1968), in a minor role.
Invited by fellow martial artist/actor Bruce Lee, Norris played one of the main villains in The Way of the Dragon (directed by Lee & the last film released during his lifetime), which featured an epic fight between their characters in the Roman Colosseum- regarded as one of the greatest fight scenes of all time.
From 1993 to 2001, he played Cordell Walker in the CBS crime series, Walker, Texas Ranger. Walker made a guest appearance in a Martial Law (starring fellow martial artist, Sammo Hung) crossover episode, "Honor Among Strangers" & reprised his role in Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial By Fire, in 2005.
His films include Good Guys Wear Black, Silent Rage, The Octagon, The Delta Force, Hellbound & The Expendables 2.
He was also known for his devotion to Christianity, philanthropy & best-selling books on martial arts. Like Bruce Lee, Norris formed his own fighting styles; Chun Kuk Do & American Tang Soo Do.
