QFest 2021 Coming On October

We look at a dynamic range of human issues in the throes and aftermath of a pandemic, and how different artists explore these issues and cope with the harsh impacts of the pandemic on the creative industry, which is hinged on words..

With the popularity of Podcasts, Zoom, Instagram, ClubHouse, WhatsApp spaces, and many other virtual platforms for expression, words have taken on different forms; from written texts, to audio documents and visual texts, as such, this festival will explore how effective these new forms of expression are.”- Quramo Publishing 

This year's edition of Quramo Publishing Limited's annual literary festival, Quramo Festival of Words (better known as QFest)  is scheduled to hold on from October 1st to Octobe3rd  2021; the venue  being Eko Hotel &Suites, Victoria Island. The three day festival  promises an interactive series of events, from Master Classes and Book readings to Open Mic, Panel discussions, Workshops and documentary screenings, the grand finale being the  unveiling of this year's  Quramo Writer's prize, which will take place on the final day of the festival.

Qfest evolved from the Quramo Writer's Prize, whose maiden edition took place in 2017, Samuel Monye winning the prize for his entry, Give Us Each Day, which is now a published novella, by Quramo Publishing under its Qbooks imprint. The following year, Michael Emmanuel emerged the winner, his entry being Running Waters.  In 2019, Vivian Ibe emerged the winner, for her entry, What Dreams Are Made of. 

Last year's edition- due to the Covid pandemic- was mostly a virtual affair, with the unveiling of the QWP winner having limited attendance on the last day of the festival, whose theme was 'Creativity RESET: The Future of Words'. The prize went to Alex Kadiri for his entry, Sunshower. 

The festival's theme this year is  'Transcendence : Words Defying'.
