'First They Killed My Father' Official Trailer
Reel Sum Up...
Produced and directed
by veteran actress Angelina Jolie; this movie tells the true story of human
rights activist and lecturer, Loung Ung. Based on her published memoir of the same name, the movie gives a detailed and harrowing account of Ung’s
escape from the Cambodian genocide orchestrated by the infamous Khmer Rouge
regime. Over the next four years, some two million Cambodians – out of a
population of seven million – were killed by Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge
regime. While she was able to reach America with her brother and sister-in-law,
Ung’s parents, two sisters and 20 other relatives were killed.
Close friends of
Jolie, Ung penned the screenplay; with Angelina’s adopted son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt
(originally from Cambodia) also involved in the project.
The movie was
previously released in Cambodia on the 18th of February and now it is
set to be released on Netflix on the 15th of September, 2017.
