'B' is for 'Bob': 'Sesame Street' Veteran Dies At 90

Reel Illustrated is sad at the news of the death of  'Sesame Street' veteran, Bob McGrath; who passed away yesterday at his New Jersery home. He was 90.

An actor, singer, musician, author and educator, McGrath played music teacher Bob Johnson  in the long running educational show from 1969 until he was written out in 2016 along with fellow cast members late Emilio Delgado (Luis the Handyman) and  (Roscoe Orman (Gordon) to make room for new and younger characters. However, he returned in 2019 during Sesame Street's 50th Anniversary Celebration special; which  featured  past Muppets and cast members;  including  Linda Bove (Linda the Librarian) and Sonia Manzano (Maria, David's former girlfriend and Luis' eventual wife).

Along with Loretta Long (Susan, Gordon's wife), Bob was the longest running Seasame Street character; forever remembered for his melodious  singing and story tellimg.

McGrath is survived by his wife, 5 children and 8 grandchildren.

Rest in peace, Bob... never, never forgotten!!! 🌹
