Will Smith Will Return in 'Aladdin 2'

Director of the live action adaptation of 'Aladdin', Guy Ritchie, has confirmed Will Smith will reprise his role as the Genie in 'Aladdin 2', which is still in its early stages of development. The Fresh Prince  finally bagged a Best Actor Oscar (the 5th African American to do so) for his role in 'King Richard' in March this year.  However, the moment was marred forever when he slapped the host Chris Rock, after he made a joke about Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett... BEFORE he was annouced as Best Actor. Smith was suprisingly allowed to keep his Oscar but barred from future Oscar ceremonies for 10 years and he resigned from the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences. He has apologised to the Academy and Rock for his behaviour.

So far, Will Smith and Chris Rock are still estranged following the incident and Smith's career slowly moving up again, with the recent  premiere of the period piece, 'Emancipation'.

Unfazed by the controversy surrounding Smith, Ritchie says...

"I’ve never met a more lovely man, and working with him was one of the most wonderful, great experiences I’ve ever had. I never saw anything other than the consummate, generous gentleman. I wouldn’t have any issue casting Will Smith in anything, because, as I say, he was just the f——ng perfect gentleman."
