'The Harder They Fall' Features Naija Music

 The newly released American Western starring Jonathan Majors, Idris Elba, Regina King and  Zazie Beetz has apparently shifted 'Squid Game' aside in the popularity line on Netflix. However, it's not the story line that gives Nigerian viewers the reason to smile widely, but the music score. How often do you you hear Naija music in a Hollywood film, must less... in pidgin English???

'The Harder They Fall', scored by Jay-Z, has the late Fela Anikulapo- Kuti's 'Let's Start' (ft. Ginger Baker), which was initially used in the film's official trailer but was however not listed among the film's official soundtrack album on Apple Music or Spotify. 

According to Jay-Z during and interview at the film's London screening:

"Just that juxtaposition of how art influences life and life influences culture was just interesting to us, Fela Kuti was so hard it was just  the best trailer, music of all time. That's what I listen to in the house, Jeymes (Samuel) - director of the movie as well; that's why we listen to when we kicking it. So we just put the things that we really love. 'Cause it's magic and magic going to watch. "

So Naija viewers out there, while watching 'The Harder They Fall',  right after the scene were Stagecoach Mary (Regina King), Bill Pickett (Edi Gathegi) and Cuffee (Danielle Deadwyler) confront Marshall Reeves (Delroy Lindo) and Nat Love (Majors) to  inform them they know of Reeves and Nat's plan to ambush Rufus Buck (Elba) and his foot soldiers alone, prepare to hear...
