AFRIMA 2023: Nigerian Music Stars Win Big

At  the 3 day  8th edition of  the  All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), held in Dakar, Senegal, Nigerian music  stars Burna Boy bagged Artist of the Year and Album of the Year, Davido Best Male Artist in Inspirational African Music, and Wizkid, Best West African Act. However, the 3 artistes were not present to receive their awards in person.

 Senegal made history this year by becoming the first French-speaking African country to host AFRIMA, with  Nigerian music duo (and twin brothers) P Square and Ghanian rapper, Black Sherif, giving a lively performance on stage. 

Nigerian singer Asake, who won Breakout Artiste of the Year, expressed his gratitude as he recieved the award, "It started as a dream, but today, it's a reality. Thanks to God, my label and to all my fans listening to my songs."

Song of the Year went to Ivorian singer Didi B for 'Tala' but  Nigerian artiste Brymo lost Songwriter of the Year to Malian counterpart, Iba One.
