Kunle Afolayan's New Project: "Ijogbon"

After his success with the Yoruba epic "Aníkúlápó" last year, Kunle Afolayan is currently on his next film project for Netflix,  this time a family/adventure/coming of age story set in a rural area but in the present day. The film stars  Bimbo Manuel, Gabriel Afolayan (brother of Kunle), Sam Dede, Tana Adelana, Yemi Solade, Yemi Sodimu, Femi Branch, Adunni Ade and Dorothy Bachor.

In "Ijogbon" ('stubborn' or 'troublesome'  in Yoruba), 4 teenagers (3 boys and a girl) stumble upon a bag of diamonds and foolishly go with the 'finders, keepers' saying by keeping it for themselves, to disastrous results.

Kunle Afolayan made the announcement on Instagram:

"Ijogbon  shows the universality of human emotions, defined by peculiar cultural backgrounds and beliefs,” he added.

“Furhermore, the film depicts what life is like for teenagers in rural parts, and their aspirations for a better life, even if it means having to Japa (leaving the country).”

It is written by Tunde Babalola,  and partnered with Afolayan’s KAP Motions and movie streaming platform, Netflix.

We can't wait!
