NEW!: LIVING IN BONDAGE: BREAKING FREE

Ramsey Nouah makes his directorial debut with Living In Bondage: Breaking Free, an unexpected sequel to the 1992 Igbo film Living in Bondage starring Kenneth Okonkwo, Nnenna Nwabueze, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Bob Manuel Udokwu and Francis Agu, directed by Chris Obi Rapu. There is definitely hope for Nollywood yet, as this is definitely a step in the right direction, revisiting an old Nollywood classic. Kudos... but this is also definitely the time for Nollywood filmmakers to consider re-releasing their past works, how many people actually remember the original film?

Living in Bondage, which was released in two parts (1992-1993) and subtitled in English,  was the story of Andy (Kenneth Okonkwo) who joins a  satanic cult at the advice of his friend Paul (Okechukwu Ogunjiofor) to achieve instant wealth. He gets what he wants- at a huge price- and from then on knows no peace, until he eventually finds redemption.

Living In Bondage: Breaking Free has Swanky J.K.A as the main character Nnamdi Okeke, whose hunger for wealth  and the good life leads him to follow Andy's former dark path after being influenced by Richard Williams (Ramsey Nouah) and Andy's former cronies Chief Omego and Mike  (Kanayo O. Kanayo and Bob Manuel- Udogwu). But there may a person that could save him... probably at the cost of his own life, his father Andy (Kenneth Okonkwo reprising his role), now a pastor.  Sadly not returning is  Francis Agu who played Ichie- another member of the cult in the original film- as he passed away in 2007 and Jennifer Okere Ossai (late wife of actor Emeka Ossai) who played Chineyere, passed away in 1999.

Living In Bondage: Breaking Free will hit cinemas nationwide on the 8th of November, 2019.
