Nollywood Loses Biyi Banedele


Nigerian novelist, playwright and filmmaker, Biyi Bandele has passed away. The sad news was announced on Facebook by his daughter, but the cause of death is yet to be stated. The prolific filmmaker died on the 7th and was 54 years old.

Bandele was a Theatre Arts student at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun state and wrote several plays and novels. He moved to the U.K in 1990 and later on became a renowned film director; his works included "Half  Of A Yellow Sun", "Fifty", "Blood Sisters" and recently, "Eleshin Oba" (The King's Horseman), a film adaptation of Professor Wole Soyinka's play, "Death and the King's Horseman", set to be released in September.
