PHOTO OF THE WEEK: 'Jacob Odulate'
Jacob Odulate was a Nigerian pharmacist, essayist and entrepreneur who in 1918 invented the medicine, Alabukun powder. Made of 60mg of caffeine and 760mg of acetysalicylic acid, Alabukun powder is used to cure migraines, fevers, sore throat and other ailments. Jacob Odulate also invented the Alabukun Mentholine balm, which came before the powder. Jacob Oludate died in 1962. The Alabukun factory is currently managed by one of his grandsons, Koye Odulate.
Oludate's daughter, Chief Mrs Folake Solanke, is the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in the country.
