'Toy Story' Spinoff 'Lightyear' Premires June 2022
Buzz Lightyear made his debut appearance in Toy Story, the very first full length computer animated Pixar film in 1995; a pompous, delusional spaceman toy and initially Woody's (voiced spectacularly by Tom Hanks) rival. Voiced by Tim Allen, he appeared in the 3 sequels and the 2000 direct to video Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins and a shortlived T.V series.
The upcoming Lightyear, however is not a sequel, prequel or reboot of the Toy Story franchise; it's a spinoff, the origin story of the real space ranger/Explorer that inspired the Buzz Lightyear action figure. Only this time, Chris Evans (Captain America) will be taking over from Tim Allen as the voice of Lightyear. It will premiere on the 17th of June, 2022.
