S.W.A.T Uncancelled!
It came as a shock when it was announced the CBS crime procedural series has been cancelled. Fans were not the only ones to voice their displeasure but the cast as well, Shemar Moore in particular. With the huge ratings the series has garnered since it began in 2017, the reason for pulling the plug was unknown.
Y&R and Criminal Minds alum Moore, who plays Daniel 'Hondo' Harrelson, said the cancellation made no sense and that, "CBS is either gonna wake up and realize they made a mistake. Sony is gonna do their math and realize that this is not the right move."
Which turned out to be true as CBS reversed its decision after the loud outcry from fans and announced S.W.A.T will return for Season 7 (its final season), thus uncancelled! Yay!!!
"S.W.A.T. has aired for six seasons on CBS and garnered a devoted following. We are pleased that we found a way to bring it back and give closure to the show’s storylines and characters, which audiences deserve. Once again, we appreciate the talents and efforts of the cast, writers, producers and crew and everyone who has contributed to the success of S.W.A.T. We look forward to its return next season."
Amy Reisenbach and and Katherine Pope, President of CBS Entertainment and President of Sony Pictures Television Studios respectively, announced.
S.W.A.T is based on the 2003 film of the same name, Hondo played by Samuel L. Jackson and also starring Colin Farrell.
However, the film itself was based on the original 1975 series; Hondo played by the late Steve Forrest.
