Kunle Afolayan’s ‘The Bridge’ Opens in Cinemas
Reel Sum Up
A
couple secretly marry against their parents’ wishes and the tribal prejudice
and cultural clash between both families- Stella is Ibo while Obadare is Yoruba- threaten their relationship. The movie is produced by Lasun Ray and directed by
ace filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan.
Other
directors should make the habit of drawing more movie plots (and I mean probable movie plots) from real life
social and cultural issues. This movie is obviously about tribalism and the
difficulties some intertribal couples face because of their families’
disapproval. In the story, the groom (played by Demola Adedoyin) is not only
not from Stella’s tribe, he’s also a royal prince, which will definitely raise
hackles on his family’s necks in particular. What is greatly needed is both
families to eventually find common ground, which will bring about lasting unity
and acceptance between them. The movie opened in Cinemas across the country
today.
Playing Stella is Nigerian Singer/Songwriter
Chindinma Ekile (making her movie debut) and other cast members include Zach
Orji, Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello), Lanre Hassan, Lere Paimo and Tina Mba.
