The upcoming  prequel of The Lion King  set to be released on the 20th of December sees the unfolding of Mufasa's origin story,  from an orphan to his eventual destiny as the King of the Pride lands, told by Rafiki to Mufasa's granddaughter, Kiara (Simba's daughter). 

The voice cast includes Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as his brother Scar, South African actor John Kani reprising his voice role as Rafiki, Donald Glover and  Beyonce Knowles also returns as the voices of Simba and  Nala, Keith David as Masego, Mufasa's biological father, Anika Noni Rose as Afia, Mufasa's biological mother and  Beyonce and Jay-Z's daughter Blue Ivy Carter making her debut as Kiara, Simba and Nala's daughter and Mufasa's granddaughter. 

"Mufasa" is directed by Barry Jenkins, the film  features original songs from the multi-talented Lin-Manuel Miranda.
