GUS 2021: Omoya, Mfon & Gerald Out

Omoya, Mfon and Gerald

Following the end of the not so popular Big Brother Naija on the 3rd of October, 2021, the far more beloved Gulder Ultimate Season S12 (GUS 2021) returned after a 7 year  hiatus. Taking over from long standing host, Bob Manuel- Udokwu is media personality, Toke Makinwa-making her the first female GUS host- assisted by taskmaster  Kunle Remi, winner of GUS 2010. Sorry, folks who still badly want Chidi Mokeme back.

The first episode aired on the 16th of October 2021, where Makinwa and Remi welcomed the 18 contestants in  the jungle. However, they had a rather bad start  when they scrambled for food in a rough house manner, much to Makinwa and Remi's dismay, and a contestant, Olayinka  Omoya, not finding one of his sandals, which is important to have in the jungle.
While there has been some tension among GUS contestants in previous seasons, most viewers don't remember it starting on the very first night; when the contestants are expected to get to know one another. Instead, there was a nasty quarrel between some of the female contestants and Omoya who was accused of peeping at them while they bathed. Eww!

Unfortunately, the same Omoya ended up being the first eliminated contestant after failing a test, causing his team- Clan Amo- to lose the Third Eye challenge, which involved Omoya navigating the blindfolded clan members through a maze. Losing one of his sandals was his actual first offence (doesn't exactly seem fair though) hence was bounced after Makinwa passed judgment at the place of  The  Talking Drum; where Omoya  failed to redeem himself when he failed to list out the name of 6 fruits shown to the contestants.

GUS contestant, Esitima Edem

Next to be bounced were Mfon Milkel Esin of the Irin  Clan and Gerald Odeka  of the Iroko Clan. In the hot tempered  Mfon's case, his offence was of misconduct; hurling verbal  insults and death threats to  Clan Iroko member, Esitima Edem.
Viewers watched open mouthed as the pair quarreled over Esitima's sandals being won by Mfon by mistake and Mfon blowing his top when she wanted them back. His damning words, 'she couldnt dare talk to him like that outside the show'  and 'she should watch her back'. The other contestants affirmed Mfon used other nasty words including "I will just kill you" and "I'm going to kill you" and threatening to 'deal' with her after the show is over.

Dude.... *tsk* *tsk* Talk about letting your mouth run away with you.

Mfon, who has  admitted he let his anger go too far but denied threatening Esitima, described Esitima as 'uncultured and disrespectful' and has been trying to annoy him, her worst offence calling him 'guy' instead of his name. Still no reason to threaten her, dude.

At the Place of the Talking Drum, both parties' sides were listened to, Makinwa calmly  called out Mfon on  his 'lack of self control' and gave him the Council of Elders' decision... he was O.U.T!

Gerald meanwhile, was evicted for failing The Lone Sojourner  task given to them, making him the contestant with the least performance; unfortunate but small compared to what Mfon did.

Let's hope there will be NO more upsets at the camp, the contestants now down to 15.
